welcome to Midgard Mercantile!

Midgard Mercantile is a small, family-owned business that was started out of our love for rocks, minerals and all sorts of unique earthly treasures! We have been avid rockhounds for over 20 years, and spend a great deal of time out in the vast world searching for interesting and hard-to-find mineral specimens. We hand-collect each of our specimens, and only do so with the utmost respect and reverence for our Mother Earth. In addition to our mineral treasures, we also offer a variety of unique and wonderful treasures which we have made by hand. We hope you will find some treasure of your own on our site as well!

Midgard Mercantile was created by a Pagan/Wiccan father and son, Mark & Mark. The name and style of the business comes from Viking/Norse myths and sagas, "Midgard", meaning "Middle-Earth" being the name the Norse called the world that humanity inhabited. Through our business we embrace our heritage, in hopes we can share it and many cool crystals with  you!

Before our business began, we had been avid rockhounds for many years. Over the years we made many connections with mine owners around the world, sharing our passion for mining with others who shared that same passion. Soon, our friends and family began to ask us to find and acquire crystal specimens for them; after a few years of doing that we decided that if the demand was there, we should start our own rock, gem, mineral and fossil business.

Being in the rock and mineral community for so many years we knew how many rock/crystal shops would completely overcharge for their specimens, so we decided to correct this and make a difference in this business. We strive to have the lowest retail prices for all of our products in comparison to other rock and gem businesses, without diminishing the high quality and standard that we hold ourselves to. By doing this we can share our passion for the Earth with all of you at a highly affordable price.

The most rewarding part of our jobs is the fact that we get to go out into the wilderness and explore old mines and prospect for new materials. Being one with the Earth is the best feeling in the world, and we are happy to share it with you!

The Son, a born and raised Norse Pagan, is currently pursing his masters degree in Planetary Geology, the study of the geology of bodies in outer space. He is scientifically qualified and is very knowledgeable in the field of geology and paleontology. On top of this, he is well versed with the historical uses of the specimens that Midgard Mercantile sells as well as their metaphysical uses.

He also is one of the few artists that our business features at our shows, specializing in metal smithing, wood carving, jewelry design, etc.

Midgard Mercantile does make jewelry on commission, making high quality rings, engagement rings, wedding rings, brooches, necklaces, and more.

The Father is highly skilled, with a career as a electro chemist and design engineer, 20+ years of experience in rockhounding, history, and more. As a Wiccan High Priest and Norse Pagan,  he has decades of experience and knowledge in the metaphysical aspects of all of our crystals and rocks.

Together, him and his son have been learning the trade over the years, going to new places, exploring new mines and new lands. Without him, his son would have never pursued a career in geology, and maybe Midgard Mercantile wouldn't exist. So in many ways he is the reason this business exists in the first place. He is the foundation of Midgard Mercantile.

Who knows where we'll be 10 years from now? But I'm sure we'll be someplace great!
