Chrysoprase Rough

Item Description:

We are very pleased to offer select natural specimens of beautiful Chrysoprase! These specimens are from the Campo del Pucará mine, located in the Catamarca region of Argentina. Chrysoprase is a green colored gemstone variety of chalcedony. The bright, spring green color of Chrysoprase is a result of the presence of nickel. The amount of nickel present causes a beautiful variety of colors, ranging from a pale yellow to a light to dark green. Pieces of this stone are often very beautiful as the nickel inclusions create lovely patterns in the stone.

Chrysoprase is related primarily to the Heart Chakra, which it activates, opens and energizes. It also aligns all the Chakras. It is said to bring good fortune and prosperity, as well as business success. It facilitates self-expression, courage, hope, and the ability to use them wisely. It can bring happiness, and also enhances and strengthens friendships. Chrysoprase is a stone of balance that equalize yin/yang energies and allows deep meditation. It can mend broken hearts and remove inferiority or superiority complexes. It is a powerful healing stone that is said to aid failing eyesight or other eye problems, immune system response, fertility issues, gout, mental illness, relieves fevers and excess body heat.

Chrysoprase is the most valuable gemstone in the chalcedony family, and used to be mistaken for emeralds by ancient jewelers. The word Chrysoprase comes from the Greek “chrys,” meaning 'gold or yellow' and “prase,” meaning 'green'. Chrysoprase used to be referred to as “the stone of Venus,” and was often used by the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians to make seals, signets, jewelry and other ornamental objects because of its beautiful, vivid green color. It is said to have been the favorite gemstone of Alexander the Great.
