Gems & Minerals
We are proud to offer these fine (and very interesting!) specimens of Ulexite, mined exclusively from the 20 Mule Team Borax Mine located in Boron, California. Ulexite is a complex mineral occurring in silky white rounded crystalline masses or in parallel fibers. The natural fibers of Ulexite conduct light along their long axes, by internal reflection, (hence the common name “TV Rock”) giving Ulexite it's remarkable fiber optic qualities. When placed on top of writing and looking through it at the right angle, Ulexite will make the writing appear to be reflected through the stone!
Metaphysically, Ulexite is a stone of far-seeing clairvoyance. This far sight can be far in time, far in distance, or both. This stone is said to bring balance and actualization. Ulexite is also said to help read the energy of others, including their intentions. Ulexite is excellent for remote viewing, telepathy and channeling. Ulexite also an excellent stone oforcreativity, bringing inspiration and promoting imagination. It is said to help get past creative blocks in any endeavor where creativity is desired.
The known history of Ulexite is recent. In 1956, a geologist named John Marmon observed that fibrous aggregates of Ulexite project an image of an object on the opposite surface of the mineral. This optical property is common for synthetic fibers, but not in minerals, giving Ulexite the nickname "TV Rock". Ulexite was named for the German chemist George Ludwig Ulex (1811–1883) who first discovered it.
Each of our specimens are unique, and will vary from the pictures shown. Pictures shown are merely an example from our stock of what you will receive upon purchase.
